Families for Safe Streets Massachusetts

Confronting traffic violence in Massachusetts through advocacy and support for families

MA Families for Safe Streets confronts traffic violence and its epidemic of tragic injuries and deaths. We are comprised of victims of traffic violence and families whose loved ones have been killed or severely injured by aggressive or reckless driving and dangerous conditions on streets statewide. We represent everyone in Massachusetts who wants to join us to demand an end to traffic violence.

We believe in the power of stories and advocacy to inspire change. We believe in the power of sharing our pain and suffering to press for the elimination of fatalities and injuries on our streets.

We envision a state where in every community people who walk, roll, bike, and drive can safely co-exist, and children and adults can travel freely without risk of harm – where no loss of life in traffic is acceptable.

We advocate for life-saving changes and provide support to those affected by deadly crashes in our communities. We work so that no other families suffer the loss or life altering injuries that have impacted our families and friends.

Join us in advocating for these MA legislative acts in 2025

Mass: Expand Act to Reduce Traffic Fatalities truck regulation to all trucks by 2030

We're asking to enforce the act by requiring “a motor vehicle, trailer, semi-trailer or semi-trailer unit classified as a class 3 or above” to be equipped with a lateral protective device, convex and crossover mirrors, and backup cameras by Jan. 1, 2025 - and extend that law to all trucks operating in the state by 2030

Mass: Permit Automated Enforcement

We are asking Massachusetts to join 21 other states that allow communities to us speed and red light cameras to reduce traffic injuries and deaths. Please ask your representative to support Senate Bill 2344 and House Bill 3754
